The Cow Shed

Nestled in the heart of the Peak District National Park, the Cow Shed  is the perfect place to relax and unwind.  It accommodates up to five guests, making it ideal for families or groups, but it’s also great for couples. It's the perfect base for walking, cycling and exploring the incredible Peak District countryside.

Set in the heart of the Peak District National Park, the Cow Shed is a charming holiday cottage located in the rural village of Wormhill. Just a stone’s throw away from the spa towns of Buxton, Bakewell, Tideswell, Castleton, and the stunning Chatsworth House. This holiday home offers the perfect retreat to relax, unwind, and immerse yourself in the beautiful scenery of the Peak District.

There are lots of lovely places of interest for you to visit all year round in the Peak District. You can enjoy amazing walks, including the infamous Kinder Scout in Edale and the nearby Instagram-famous Stepping Stones, which are easily accessible from The Cow Shed holiday cottage. For cyclists, there are scores of bike trails and quiet country roads, along with cosy pubs, historic villages and towns, stately homes, incredible gardens, theatres, restaurants, and shops.

Amazing Walks

We are truly spoilt for choice when it comes to fabulous walks in the Peak District, starting from the famous Stepping Stones at Chee Dale, easily accessible from the Cow Shed holiday cottage. For those seeking a challenge, Kinder Scout in Edale awaits. You can also explore Winnats Pass, witness the stunning sunrise from the top of Mam Tor, or simply enjoy a leisurely stroll along the Monsal Trail, soaking in the beauty of the countryside.

Cosy Pubs and Restaurants

Every village in the Peak District has at least one super pub, and there are plenty of places to eat and drink all year round, many of which welcome dogs. The Red Lion at Litton, The Angler's Rest at Millers Dale, The Bull's Head at Monyash, or the Royal Oak at Hurdlow – take your pick! And that's before you explore the restaurants in Buxton, Tideswell, and Bakewell. There is something for everyone.

The Cow Shed holiday cottage is brilliantly located between Bakewell and Buxton, with the foodie village of Tideswell nearby and the historic Eyam within easy striking distance. This charming holiday home in the Peak District is also close to the fabulous Castleton, known for its caves and castle ruins, as well as Matlock Bath. There are plenty of activities and experiences for all ages and interests.

For those who love their culture, there are plenty of places to visit in the Peak District. The incredible Chatsworth House is well worth a trip, and Lyme Hall is also a great spot to explore. If you're staying in a holiday cottage or holiday home, Buxton's own Opera House stages the Buxton International Festival every summer, featuring a programme of performances as diverse as it is packed.

If you are a coffee lover, then your trip to the Peak District will not disappoint. There are numerous independent coffee spots, such as HIgh Peak Book Store, Tideswell Lounge, Dandelion in Buxton, and The Refreshment Room on the Monsal Trail. 

Each of these places provides a cozy atmosphere, and great food, perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee after exploring the stunning landscapes of the Peak District

If a break for you includes some adventure, then there is plenty to explore in Derbyshire, especially when staying at the Cow Shed holiday cottage. You can try the cable cars at Matlock, enjoy water sports with Peak and Paddles adventure, or go paddle boarding on Carsington Water. For those looking for a bit of cycling, bike hire from Hassop station is available, and rock scrambling in Edale offers an exhilarating experience.
